Abstract

This research was conducted in order to assess the impact of the slope’s critical length in the geometrical design of a mountain hallway road with slopes higher than 3%, condition in which the vehicles develop a critical slope length before finishing its route in the rise, lowering its operating speed and impacting the speed of the track; therefore the Colombian National Roads Institute recommends to provide outstanding recovery sections by increasing the length and time of travel. After establishing the population to be evaluated, it was done the new geometrical design, it was determine the average length increase of the final outline 38% and the evaluation of the mentioned criteria.
