Abstract

"The present research studies the radiation effect over composites of polyester resin and fiberglass applied to the military industry. We want to determine the optimal percentage of irradiation for these composites. In the experimental methodology, design a polyester resin and fiberglass laminate by the method of Wet Lay-Up. The compounds were prepared in solution with a commercial polyester resinusing styrene as solvent. The specimens were
cured in the open air for 24 hours. Characte rized using percentage are defined for each
component, then selecting a compound with a
concentration of 4.5% (fiber) and 95.5% (resin)
as an optimum combination. It is tested trans mitting and incident radiation.
This material shows a favorable optical perfor mance for military architectural applications
because of their high optical transmission co efficient. According to the results, it is posible
to replace the glass for this material due to
internal radiation 80% of the total radiation
that can be had in this. Another advantage of
this material for military purposes is that the
diffuse radiation is low and which is applied as
a preventive measure in the reconstruction of
images through this material."
