/ Increasing’s analysis in high basin Bogotá’s river using synthetic value methods

"For studies of flood control and design of diffe rent structures (bridges, intake, roads, urbani zations, among others) the determination of
maximum upstream of the current related to
return periods is needed. To know these values,
different methods or theories may be used, ha ving as a purpose to analyze the occurrence of
a downpour, its value and representative when
generating drainage which is directly related to
the increase of the river upstream. This docu ment shows the process and the findings in a
study made in the high basin of Bogota’s river
limited from their source until the Saucio station located in the Chocontá municipality in
the Reservoir “El Sisga”, for which the synthetic
type methods proposed by Snyder and the SCS
are applied to determine maximum flows.
Results indicate that the SCS methodology pro vides results that are consistent with the recor ded values, while Snyder´s method is far from
said values. This result leads to suggest that
the use of such methodologies should be made
with high objectivity and critical judgment of
the obtained results."
