Abstract

This article reflects a review of the state of the art regarding the presence of diatoms in soil deposits and propose preparation of soil in laboratory at different dosages Kaolin - Diatoms. This article is motivated by the lack of studies of Diatoms respect to civil engineering uses. Once identified an exploration source of diatomaceous soil, characterization tests, particularly concerning Moisture content (Atterberg limits) and changes of plasticity are developed at different dosages. The minimum Diatoms content and representative species by electron microscopic evidence is validated. Finally, the behavior is evaluated according to the Unidimensional Consolidation test and respective compressibility coefiecients are reported
