Abstract

The water resource has been one of the most affected by the textile industry, especially by the activity of washing textiles and most of this resource after being used is discharged into public sewers and / or water sources without any treatment. The present investigation is related to the determination of the effect of the treatment of non-domestic wastewater generated by an industrial laundry by incorporating the processes of aeration and bioremediation. Bibliographic, experimental field and qualitative research was applied. To do this, three samples of the effluent were taken and six physicochemical parameters were characterized, such as COD, BOD5, total suspended solids, settle able solids, fats and oils and surfactants through laboratories accredited to the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies - IDEAM. These results were compared with the regulations in force in Colombia related to the characterization of dumping and the economic activity of laundry. With regard to the characteristics of the effluent before the incorporation of the new processes, it violated the norm by high values in some of the analyzed parameters, although after the inclusion of the additional processes to the treatment system, a significant decrease of its concentrations although in some of the named parameters have not yet complied with the norm, there was defined a methodological proposal to further improve the effectiveness of this type of non-domestic wastewater treatment systems
