Abstract

This project evaluated the behavior under monotonic load of a warm asphalt mix with HUSIL additive, applied with dry method at 1% and with blast furnace slag in its particle fraction, to be compared with an asphalt mix in conventional warm MDC-25, taking as reference the norms and specifications from the National Institute of Roads (in Spanish Instituto Nacional de Vías-INVIAS). Different dosages of blast furnace slag were employed (12%, 19%, 37%and 51%), replacing the stone aggregates from the particle fraction and applying additionally the HUSIL additive. It was executed a total of 220 samples with which was determined that the optimum percentage of asphalt to employ was of 5.5%. The best behaviors in the stability test and flow were shown by the dosage of blast furnace Para citar este artículo / To cite this article H.A. Rondón, D.A. Zuluaga, V.A. Ramos, O.R. Osorio, E.A. Once stablished these percentages of slag, the warm asphalt mix was evaluated adding the HUSIL additive in 1%, and the resulting optimum mixing temperature was 130 °C in the case of the warm mix (with or without additive). According to the previous analysis, it is concluded that the asphalt mix with the studied materials and the described method of work, presents a behavior under monotonic load superior to any other conventional asphalt mix type MDC-25 with stone aggregates
