Alternate technics to evaluate the behavior of asphalt mixes using the digital processing of images

Abstract

The mechanic and dynamic response of the asphalt mix used in the construction of pavements is complex due to the diversity of the materials and the sizes that conform it, and additionally are affected by the environmental conditions and of charge among other factors. Recently the development of devices and softwares to the capture and processing of images, open the possibility to investigate the asphalt mix behavior based on the analysis of their images. According to the previous statement, the main objective of this article is to show the different technics that are used in the capture, processing and analysis of 2D and 3d images to evaluate asphalt mixes, just as the reached results until now.
