The present investigation analyses firstly the topographic survey problematic since a methodologic point of view of its realization and further processing, deepening in the descriptions of different employed techniques and the characterization of the devices used. Secondly, this investigation revises, through the case studies, the precision offered by the surveys realized in the company of other variables such as the study phase which were made for, the terrain conditions and the vegetal covering. Finally, based on the obtained results and the exposed recommendations in diverse manuals and in national and international technique norms, it is stated a proposition of technical specifications for the standardization of topographic surveys in road projects which includes important aspects like the minimum required precisions, the influence of the inherent mistakes of each process, the selection of teams and the viability of the available methodologies for each particular case.
