The role of the Military Engineer from the experiences of Sergeants of the Colombian National Army

Abstract

This article of reflection aims to present the role of the Military Engineer from the experiences of Sergeants of the Colombian National Army, because it allows to identify the choice of this weapon from the projection that engineering has in the military context, what they have meant for Sergeants personnel in the time they have been active in the Colombian Military Forces, also recognizing the functions that the military engineer develops in the national territory from the security, defense, social and environmental aspects. This research uses the qualitative methodology through the interview as an instrument applied to military personnel in the rank of Sergeant, during the first semester of 2020. Allowing a theoretical and practical foundation to be generated on the military engineering weapon, the importance of and the functions that the sergeants who were part of this investigation have had in different battalions, units, cantons and others, also understanding the history and creation of this weapon within the National Army of Colombia.
