Abstract

Modular bridges constitute an effective means of response to restore vital supply outlines. For this reason, understanding their composition, design and administration, enhances their use and transfigures them to an excellent alternative for development, management and communication within the Colombian infrastructure. The state of the art accounts for an international and national literature review, through which technical reports, articles, norms and degree projects were subject to study, and besides, whose interest encompassed around modular bridges, emphasizing the research areas comprising materials, design and management, in order to have an overview of the processes in common for the construction of such structures. On the other hand, the combined use of conventional and alternative materials widens the spectrum for construction, which, in turn, could open doors to new markets that would contribute to strengthen the modular bridge industry in the country
