Abstract

This paper presents the methodology for calculating the thickness of granular layers, reinforced with high modulus pet geotextiles, for pavements resting on soft compressible subgrade soils. The methodology is based on the membrane analyses proposed by giroud and noiray (1981) and allows to find the thick- ness of granular material required to not exceed the subgrade bearing capacity, considering the mechani- cal contribution of fortex geotextiles.
